 +===== Changing the Cable =====
 +
 +Some people have asked how to change the cable to a longer or shorter one. Note that we have 3 foot, 6 foot, and 10 foot USB cables and the ones we use will all fit the 8K2 Controller, but other cables may not. If you need a different length get in touch,
 +
 +==== Step 1 ====
 +
 +{{:products:8k2-cable-change-1192.jpg?direct&800|}}
 +
 +Remove the four Philpips head screws on the bottom of the unit.
 +
 +Once removed you will see the end of the USB cable plugged into the controller board.
 +
 +----
 +
 +==== Step 2 ====
 +
 +{{:products:8k2-cable-change-1194.jpg?direct&800|}}
 +
 +Gently lift the cable out of the groove at the end of the enclosure.
 +
 +Be careful as forcing it may break the USB port off of the board.
 +
 +Wiggle the cable left and right to get it loose... Again, be gentle while doing so.
 +
 +----
 +
 +==== Step 3 ====
 +
 +{{:products:8k2-cable-change-1198.jpg?direct&800|}}
 +
 +Once you have the cable free from the port you can remove it.
 +
 +----
 +
 +==== Step 4 ====
 +
 +{{:products:8k2-cable-change-1196.jpg?direct&800|}}
 +
 +With the cable removed you can now insert the replacement.
 +
 +It may help to bend the cable as shown for insertion.
 +
 +----
 +
 +==== Step 5 ====
 +
 +{{:products:8k2-cable-change-1198.jpg?direct&800|}}
 +
 +Now you'll basically reverse the process.
 +
 +Gently insert the replacement cable.
 +
 +----
 +
 +==== Step 6 ====
 +
 +{{:products:8k2-cable-change-1201.jpg?direct&800|}}
 +
 +Once the cable is plugged in lay it into the groove in the enclosure.
 +
 +With the cable in place you can put the bottom cover back on.
 +
 +Make note of the orientation. The small hole in the cover needs to be over the white reset button on the board.
 +
 +Make sure to not over-tighten the screws when putting the cover back on.
 +
 +----
 +
 +==== Notes ====
 +
 +**Remember to go slow while doing this, and to not force anything.**
