Intro

The 8K2 Controller works well with the Lekholm DM48X Digital Chromatic Harmonica when connected to an iPad running AUM - Audio Mixer. Jason Keene has a great video on how he uses it: The DM48X Digital MIDI Harmonica - Exciting new features and more!

Description

The 8K2 Controller a custom USB MIDI device with 8 buttons and a 10 foot long USB cable.

This works well with the DM48X Digital MIDI Harmonica with the AUM Audio Mixer app on iOS. This is what Jason Keene uses. (Note that we cannot offer support for getting things running so you should know what you are doing… or hire Jason to help you out.)

We'll include a small chunk of hook & loop and 8 rubber bumpons if you want to attach some to the buttons.

USB Cable

The device comes with a 10 foot long USB cable. You can replace it with a short (or longer) cable if desired. (Note that 15 feet is the maximum length for a USB cable without using extenders.)

You can remove the bottom cover and you'll see where the Micro USB cable is plugged in. As long as your replacement cable can fit in the device it should work just fine.

Programming

Button Assignments (left to right):

  1. Toggle CC22 (127 for first press, 0 for second)
  2. Toggle CC23 (127 for first press, 0 for second)
  3. Toggle CC24 (127 for first press, 0 for second)
  4. Toggle CC25 (127 for first press, 0 for second)
  5. Send program change (decrease by one)
  6. Send program change (increase by one)
  7. Send value 127 on CC63 when pressed, send value 0 when released
  8. Send value 64 on CC1 when pressed, send value 0 when released
  • For “Send program change” it will start at 0 when powered on, so the first press of button 6 will change it to 1. (It will never go below zero or over 127.)
  • Note: “Left” is the side with the USB cable on it.
