Description

The MK1 Controller is powered via a Micro USB port, and outputs MIDI data via a standard 5 Pin DIN Port, but can also output USB MIDI via the USB cable when plugged into a computer.

The MK1 MIDI can scroll from 0 to 127. When you get to the number you want you press the knob/button and it will send that number via MIDI output. After you press the knob/button the numbers will blink and then display brighter to indicate the number has been sent. When you scroll the knob again it will dim the numbers to indicate they have not been sent yet.

The encoder spins “forever” meaning it does not have a hard stop in either direction (just like a mouse scroll wheel). It has detents for precise control, allowing you to move one “step” at a time.

The encoder has 20 “clicks” per full turn, which means it will take 6 1/2 turns to go from 0 to 127.

We'll include a Micro USB Cable as long as we have them in stock. (Most likely it will be a 3 foot cable.)

Programming

Programming: We can set this up for a MIDI Program Change (PC) or to send noteOn/noteOff data or CC data. There are lots of options so let us know what you want/need.

Firmware PCV2 - 2024-05-01

Normal Operation

This version of the firmware has added the ability to change the MIDI channel on the device.

When you first power on the device it will show CH01 on the LCD to indicate Channel 1 is selected.

The channel info will display for two seconds and then a    0 (zero) will appear showing that the device is ready.

As you turn the knob clockwise the number will increase. Turning anticlockwise will cause the number to decrease.

When you have reached the number you desire press the knob/button down and the display will blink the selected number and then display it at a higher brightness level to indicate it has been sent.

When you turn the knob again the brightness level will decrease to indicate the value has not yet been sent.

Changing the MIDI Channel

To change the MIDI Channel unplug the device from power, then hold down the knob/button, and plug the device in again, while still holding down the knob/button. Wait a few seconds and then release the knob/button.

The LCD will continue to display CH01 after you release the knob/button.

You can now use the knob to increase or decrease the selected MIDI Channel.

When you've selected the channel you want just press the knob/button again. The LCD will display —- to indicate the new channel has been saved.

Note: The device will now use this new channel until you change it again. The channel will now be shown each time you power on the device to let you know what channel is in use.
